July is National Ice Cream Month!

What does National Ice Cream Month have to do with one another living? Simple. What better way to get to know a new one another during these hot “dog days of summer” than over a delicious bowl of ice cream…or frozen yogurt or frozen custard or whatever chilly treat sounds good. Or you can invite a new friend over to your home for homemade ice cream. Yum!

Enjoying ice cream is so non-threatening and easy on everyone’s wallet.

Have you been meaning to know better that new couple in your small group or Bible class? Invite them for ice cream. Has someone new moved into the neighborhood? Take them to your favorite ice cream stand. Is a one another in your life going through a tough time right now? Maybe they’d like to just chill (literally) with a frozen treat and an easy conversation.

Sometimes we delay getting involved with the one anothers around us because we just don’t know how to get started in relating to them. We complicate something that is really quite simple. Invite them to do something…like go out for ice cream. Just ask. They may not like ice cream or be able to eat ice cream (diet, etc…), but they will appreciate the invite and you can brainstorm some other activity you can do together.

And don’t forget our precious one anothers who are shut in for whatever reason. Find out what they are allowed to eat and take it to them. Whether it is pint size ice cream or fresh fruit or sugar free cookies, make arrangements to bring them a summer treat, stay a little while and bless their lives. Trust me, you will be the one who is blessed a thousand times over.
