This is Joey, the newest addition to our household. He came to us six weeks ago and brought his owner, our daughter with him. We are glad to have them both for a little while at least.
Joey is a delightful dog, a mix, part Boston Terrier and part Pug. They call him a Bug! As every puppy owner knows, this stage in dog ownership can be a challenge. But through it all he has taught us many valuable lessons which I think are worth sharing over the next few weeks. The Bible points us to animals in many passages to teach us life lessons. God in His infinite wisdom has sent us Joey to teach us every day.
So here’s Puppy Lesson Number One…
When you smell – take a bath!
This is a no-brainer for personal hygiene purposes, but we don’t always apply this practical lesson when it comes to our spiritual lives. When we smell of sin and disobedience we need a good cleansing from God. But, just like Joey when its bath time, we extend a lot of energy running around in circles and even try hiding under the bed to avoid the very thing that will benefit us most; a good scrub!
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7 (KJV)
